From October 18th to 26th, CNRS, the city of Bordeaux and the Aquitaine Region will celebrate science, film and imagination. The first edition of the Cinémascience Festival, which caters to a general audience, will explore scientific themes found in films from around the world. Some will be screened for the first time, while others have stood the test of time.Throughout the week, scientists and film makers from the world over will be invited to share their experience and meet the public. Exhibitions and conferences will round out these varied offerings.
International competition
Twelve new French and foreign films will be judged by the Jury. Screenings will be combined with encounters between film-makers and scientists.
“Nouveau regard” selection
A dozen films from different countries, most of which will be screened for the first time, have been selected for their innovative or unusual approach of a scientific subject.
Retrospective sélection
21 films drawn from the world’s cinematographic heritage will be shown, alongside a tribute to renowned film-makers.
