The physician Alain Aspect, research director at the Laboratory Charles Fabry of the Optical Institute in Orsay, received the gold medal of the CNRS in 2005 for his work pertaining to quantum optics and atomic physics. He describes his course and his works. He is at the source of a very nice experiment which has demonstrated the non-validity of Bell’s inequalities.
