Creativity lies at the heart of the work of the research scientist. While artists compose music, paint pictures, write poems, researchers invent, design, experiment, compare. However, as we willingly imagine scientists in monochrome, shut up in dusty labs, we see artists developing in a world of colour. The film runs counter to Epinals idea of scientists being poles apart from artists. So do artistic creativity and scientific research shoot forth from the same dynamic, are they driven by the same engine, the same enthusiasm? What if desire were the driving force behind medical researchers and brilliant inventors, who are always ready to think up new ways of caring for sick children?
