Your health in pictures: 9th Clap!
Poor diet, sedentary living, drug abuse, resurgent diseases,... How can public health and medical professionals better communicate about the risk posed by unhealthy lifestyle choices and diseases?Film. It is thought to be the most powerful medium for conveying such message.
This is why AthenaWeb is proud to support the 9th International Health Film Festival ImagéSanté held in Liege, Belgium, 15-20 March 2010.
ImagéSanté offers five days of interactive sessions, 250 films thereof 87 competing officially, four days live commented surgeries culminating in the awards ceremony.
The amazing "European and world premiere” innovation of this 9th Festival edition will be the 3D live transmission of a brain surgery taking place 15 kilometres away from the cinema where it will be broadcast to an audience wearing 3D glasses.
This live three-dimensional transmission of a surgery is indeed a European premiere. Moreover, the use of high resolution provided by high-capacity system to encode and decode the images constitutes by itself a world premiere.
This new 3D technology allows important improvements in terms of training and work efficiency of medical scientists.
The set up of a WebTV service, available throughout the Festival allows viewers to follow the highlights and fringes of the festival (extracts of films, interviews with jury members and directors, news features, surgeries with live commentaries, etc.).
