An ESOF tale
The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), Europe’s leading biannual dialogue platform for scientists by scientists, kicks off this month in Barcelona. The theme for 2008 is ‘Science for a Better Life’.
ESOF2008 is hosted by EuroScience, a grass-roots organisation representing all scientific disciplines, in partnership with the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI).
AthenaWeb will join leading scientists, decision-makers and expert guests debating the latest trends in science during a packed five-day programme, starting 18 July.
Headline topics at ESOF2008 range from the future of nuclear energy and nuclear forensics, to the impact of doping on sport and society and the science of communication.
ESOF2008 also engages the general public and young people in science and research through such actions as as ESOFTeens and Investiga la investigació, of which AthenaWeb is a partner. Hands-on activities, including film, theatre, music and experiments taking place around the event, are expected to attract a diverse audience of up to 20,000, according to the organisers.
